my response :

Yes, i couldn't agree more, to all those things. But since I'm not
allowed to send a mail which just says 'yes, i agree', I'll add in
another thought I have re. Harry's relationships. Not that I thnk
he'll actually WANT to go out with anyone, since he'll be so
preoccupied with other things...but, if he was to go out with
someone, what about Luna Lovegood? (Ducks to avoid rotten tomatos,
etc being thrown at me by scornful posters).
OK, I know she was thrown in for the comic potential by JKR (not
sure I'm with her on that one), but actually, look at her
credentials to be Harry's girlfriend :
* understands what it is to feel apart from the group and lonely
* she must be a strong character to withstand other people's
teasing and worse, and to not care about it either
* seems to be on Harry's wavelength most of the time, when others
aren't or culdn't possibly understand how Harry's feeling, Luna DOES
eg they both see the thestrals, both hear the whispering behind the
veil, she comforts him by talking about the voices behind the veil
just when Harry is missing Sirius most
*Doesn't care what people think of her (handy if companion to a
maverick kind of guy like Harry) and speaks her mind - got a strong
sense of nwhat's right

Well, I know a traditional relationship for Harry might be out of
the question, but if some form of loyal companionship developed
without their realising, I wouldn't be surprised. And by emphasising
her odd appearance (only by describing her odd clothes, note, not,
if I remember rightly, by saying she wasn't attractive) I think JKR
might be lining her up for a 'but...miss jones...you're really
beautiful when you take off your glasses and let down your hair'
moment in the future when people realise her true worth. Which might
provide some interesting sparring from Hermione I guess.
Well, just my two pence worth. Remember in two year's time, you
heard it here first.
