There's something in Petunia's background that hasn't come to light. 
Was she part of the wizard community but couldn't compete with Lily? 
Petty sisterly rivalry that resulted in her turning her back on the 
community? 

She knew about Dementors. She hadn't just heard it. Think I'll take a 
look at the earlier books to see what her reactions have been to 
magic in the past.
