Hi Tonks101 (great screen name BTW) I think I remember that
Dumbeldore told Harry (at end of OOP) that the curse backfired
because of Lily's sacrifice. But then I thought again about when
Voldemort was able to touch Harry's cheek in the graveyard. I think
the protection was no longer there because Harry's blood now resides
within Voldemort. I wonder then, why did Dumbeldore's eyes twinkle
when Harry told him that Voldemort used his blood for the rebirth? I
would think this would have alarmed Dumbledore, now that V can touch
Harry without dying like Quirrel did. But then another thought
occured to me. The prophecy said that the Dark Lord would mark his
enemy as his equal. Perhaps V's first attempt at Harry (now matter
how old Harry was) was destined to backfire in order for V to make
his enemy his equal, thus fulfulling the prophecy. So, in essence, V
CHOSE Harry as his equal enemy (rather than Neville...which is a
whole other mystery to me still!) Am I making any sense? Or just
babbling from being totally overwhelmed by this book?? Can't wait to
read it again and hopefully understand it better :o)
