I'm liking Percy less and less as the series goes on. We don't need
another spy in the Ministry, we have so many already! I think we're
seeing what Ron was talking about in the last couple of books. Ron
felt that Percy would betray his family if it got Percy a little
more power. I think that showed in OoP. Percy was a complete @ss
in this book. He didn't even visit his father in the hospital! Mr.
W was close to death, and Percy didn't even send a letter. He sent
his X-mas presents back. And his letter to Ron? He acts like he
doesn't have two older brother! He tells Ron to look to him as an
example, but what about Bill and Charley? Mrs. W tells us that Ron
is the fourth prefect in the family, which means that Bill and
Charley were both prefects. But Percey doesn't even mention them,
he just tells Ron he was afraid that Ron was going to follow in the
twins' footsteps. And that he's happy now that it looks like Ron is
following in his footsteps! What a jerk! I hope his girlfriend,
Penelope, dumps him ASAP.
I personlly think that there's a chance that Percy could become a
death eater. He seems to be willing to do anything for power, which
is a characteristic of Slytherins. He obviously cares more about
himself than his family. Now he's the personal assistant to the
Fudge. Fudge places a very large importance on blood, and looks
down on "half-breeds", muggle-born parents, etc. Come on, he feels
that Mr. W lacks "wizarding pride." Now that Percy is under Fudge's
influence, will these views rub off on him? And Percy is a pure-
blood. Hmm...
But, look Ginny! Wow! I think she's really come into her own in
this book. We find out that she's been breaking into the family
shed and "borrowing" her brother's broomsticks. And no one know
about it until Hermione tells them! She completely takes advantage
of the fact that everyone sees her as this innocent little girl.
She lied point blank to her mother about dung-bombs in Siruis'
house. (She blamed it on Crookshanks.) And her hands are filthy!
Then she completely makes up a story about the corridor to
Umbridge's office, and no-one doubts her story! I love it! Even
the twins don't know what she's been up to. I see one great sneak
in the making. Talk about someone with the makings of an Auror!
The twins: Wow. I love them! And I love the fact that Flitwick
left a little bit of their swamp just because it was "a good bit of
magic." And that we finally get to see their view on education:
they'll study stuff they think is useful, but anything else...
Absolutely great. I hope we get to see more of them even though
they graduated! And I loved the fact that Peeves gave them a salute
when they left. And that no teacher tried to counteract their
practical jokes while Umbridge was there. These two are serious
geniuses and creative inventors. Love it.
Bill: Giving private lessons to Fleur to practice her "eenglish".
Oh, yeah. I wonder what Ron would do if Bill brought Fleur over for
dinner to meet the family. Oh, the potential of this match-up!
