Although the fact that Snape is apparently not on the tapestry is a 
strong point, I'm not convinced. Are half-bloods even allowed in 
Slytherin? IIRC, the Longbottoms aren't mentioned either; possibly 
Sirius was just trying to shrug off his ugly bloodline.

Well, one of the most famous Slytherins was a half-blood: Tom Riddle. So we /do/ know they're allowed. I'm still of the opinion that Snape was a pureblood. Sirius is already related to a number of people, he doesn't need to be related to /everyone/. Or he might just not mention it. Also, consider that certain people might have been burned off the family tree before Sirius was aware of it, and he might even be related to people he doesn't know.
