I think it's a combination between two latin words: "Legere", that 
means "to read", and "mens", that means "mind". So the spell would 
be translated into "I read in your mind".
Of course, my latin teacher when I was a student in Dijon would have 
certainly given a better explanation. However, I hope that helps
