But didn't Lily say something James hexing anyone who annoyed him 
just because he could.  If she's telling the truth then Snape's 
attitude is irrellevent.  He does it to everyone.  It doesn't matter 
if Snape is a jerk.  James is a bully.  He just picks on Snape more 
often than anyone else.

James apparently grew out of it later, but that doesn't change the 
fact that he was a bully at fifteen.  Even Remus ans Sirius say so; 
they just word it nicer.

I was so proud of Harry when he responded to the "Her was 15." 
with "I'm 15."  Fifteen is way too old to use age as an excuse for 
that kind of behavior.
