I wonder if JK told us on purpose becuase I kept doing the same thing
anytime anyone got in trouble--rather than figure, "Oh, they won't
kill off that person" I thought maybe that was the one to die. The
situations kept seeming more perilous because I thought someone would
die. The spoiler I'm regretting now is the "Harry, it's time I told
you the everything I should have five years ago" from Dumbledore,
only because I knew he would not die in the fight with Voldemort
which made that seem somewhat anti-climatic.

I guessed it. Otherwise, it didn't matter how much Ron sucked--Harry
just had to catch the snitch early on and then would cover for Ron.
This way Ron comes into his own as keeper (and Ginny as chaser?) so
when Harry joins the team next year, Ron won't be resentful of Harry
always "covering" for him.
