Them's fightin' words ma'am.  But, seriously, one is left wondering 
about chickens and eggs here: what is the source of evil in the 
Wizarding World?  Those statues in the lobby at the MOM almost seem 
to make a Voldemort inevitable, don't they?  Isn't he just the 
incarnation of 'Wizarding pride'?

So wise of Dumbledore to wreck them as part of his headmasterly work 
of educating Tom, though one doubts that Tom understood.
