Now me:
You are right! All Dumbledore cares about is our OWL/NEWT scores! It
is our abilities - not the choices we make, right? ('tis a joke -
please don't take that wrong)
Let's look at the abilities of the teachers he has chosen so far -
Hagrid - one of my favorite characters - will be a GREAT teacher
someday
Lupin - was a prefect, and my guess he scored very high. A great
teacher, but nobody will allow him to teach
Firenze - one of my favorite parts of the book when Firenze is
teaching. That is one class I would have really enjoyed attending.
Of course, there have also been a few duds.
Lockhart, Quirrel
I can't think of another person more qualified to teach DADA than
Harry. I don't think it will happen in this series, though. He is
so full of himself right now, so angry, and such a smart-mouthed
little *git*. He feels no gratitude and no sense of friendship. How
many times did Hermione ask him to stop biting her head off? How
many times did Ron remind him that he was his "mate"? Harry reminds
me a lot of myself at that age *bows his head in shame*.
And yes, I understand that Harry is angry. He has suffered more than
most in his few years, and life has not been fair to him. I just
hope he grows out of it soon.
