Grammatically, yes, it would sound better as you've changed it. However, I think his intention was something like " . . . risking his life while Dumbledore has sat me on my backside." That he was put on his backside instead of purposely sat on his backside. That he had no choice. Not grammatically great, but it's how people frequently speak nonetheless.

I noticed this on my second reading as well. It jumped out like Filibuster Fireworks. There's another one too, in Chapter 22.

Sirius is speaking to Fred & George: "Your father knew what he was getting into, and he won't thank you for messing things up for the Order! This is how it is--this is why you're not in the Order--you don't understand--there are things worth dying for!"
"Easy for you to say, stuck here!" bellowed Fred. "I don't see you risking your neck!"

Yep, she did it again, stuck hints everywhere, and I missed them anyway. The only thing I noticed in my first reading that bothered me about Sirius was that we suddenly found out so much about his family. That's a bit dangerous to learn so much so quickly, theyr'e bound to go soon.

Now, as for favorite lines, I've already got several. I laughed out loud (very loud, and at around 3 AM) over this one, when Ron got his prefect badge"

Hermione: "I .. . I . . . well. . . wow! Well done, Ron! That's really--"
George: "Unexpected."

Oh, I love it. Let's see, what else. Oh, of course McGonagall's "Have a biscuit." And her "Potter, I will assist you to become an Auror if it is the last thing I do!"

And there are so many others, but you really don't want me to retype the whole book. :)
