I love otters myself! However...... how fast can an otter Patronus 
scurry over to a dementor? A stag is perfect for running after them, 
but an otter? The kiss could be performed a few times over before 
they get there. At least Cho's swan could get at them faster.

And we know that just the Patronus being there doesn't scare them 
away - it has to go through them.

Too bad. I love otters. The lesson is: don't be around Hermione when 
you need a Patronus. Make sure Harry is nearby.
