Sorry I should have been more clear. I didn't mean to say it was the only 
possible solution. I was just following a train of thought.

Oh, I don't think it would happen in the books, I just thought it was a 
lovely idea. I can get a little sadistic when it comes to book characters. 
Anyway, it's not such a stretch if you compare it to some other theories 
people have explored about the twisted relationships in the Potterverse 
through fanfics.

Well, what do you expect? We've just had the 
shocking-revelation-that-he's-not-perfect. I found it a bit upsetting 
because even I didn't actually believe that MWPP had been _that_ cruel to 
Snape, and I didn't like James or Sirius much to begin with.
