Harry and Draco reflect a lot of James and Snape's characteristics:
Harry as Snape:
1.Snape does not have a happy childhood, neither Harry;
2.Snape is the one being bullied, Harry was originally the one being
bullied as well;
Harry as James:
1.Likes DADA
2.Has several good freinds
Draco as Snape:
1. Stigma on "mudlood", probably being blinded by pureblood prejudice
2. Always ends up being the one gets revenged (If Snape threw curses
at James was true...this could be the case)
(So my take on Snape favors Draco is that 1.he is about the best
student from his house; 2.He sees some of himself in him )
Now, Draco as James:
1.Being rich;
2.Arrogant Wants attention;
3.Likes to bully people for enjoyment;
4.Stealing habit;
5.Walks around the school "like if he owns the place"
So I think Draco & Harry is like a mixture of James & Snape somehow
reversed.
I also have a very uncoventional theory about Snape->Harry:
I think James is not THE ONLY reason why Snape hates Harry.
I was thinking about the BBC interview where JKR is being very vague
with Lily/Snape possibility. If we assume that is true, Snape had
feelings for Lily...
Snape did not go for it because he is a pureblood and he "hates"
mudbloods, so Lily ended up with James. NOW, if Voldemort went after
Harry because Harry was a half-blood, the situation would be:
If Harry does not exist, Lily would not be killed. And Snape was
helping the murder who killed her.
That might explain why Snape turned to OoTP after and everytime he
sees Harry, he reminds Snape's biggest mistake and this is the part
he can not take with stride. And also explains why Snape hates Hary
so badly.
Pure speculation...^o^
