Actually, I took it more that Ron wasn't afraid to die.  Like Harry.  
Ron has already told someone that was going to attack Harry that they 
would have to get through him too.  (PoA with Black & Lupin) 

I think that this is very strong for both of them.  Figuring that the 
thing that LV fears most is death for himself.  I would guess they 
are ahead of the game.
