I don't.  I think that with all the things that Dumbledore knew was going on. 
The Daily Prophet attacks. The knowledge that LV could begin to use Harry as 
a weapon if he figured out the scar connection. Dumbledore didn't even look at 
him for months. I think that the little bit of faith that Dumbledore would 
have expressed to him giving him that badge would have made all the difference 
in the world.
