Don't we all have a dark side? Don't we all have moments when our
tempers or tears overtake us and push us to make rash decisions? I
agree wholeheartedly with everyone who has said that Harry's anger is
not only understandable, but who were waiting for it to happen. Last
night I remembered that we saw glimpses of his rage in PoA after he
overheard the conversation about his parents and how Sirius (or so
was thought) killed them. Harry was so angry, he went back to his
room and wouldn't speak to anyone.

I'm still not comfortable with Harry attempting an Unforgiveable on
Bellatrix, but I understand where it came from. To me, though, this
definitely does not mean Harry will become evil. If Harry turns to
the Dark Side, what is the point of the books? This series is not
like a tv show - say, Buffy - where a character is temporarily swayed
to the Dark Side and then somehow finds his/her way back to Good. In
HP, if Harry, even for a moment, gives in to evil, he and everyone
else working for Good are doomed. Even though we see that Voldemort
can get into Harry's mind and emotions, we also see that he cannot
stay there, as Harry is amazingly strong.

Harry will need to continue to work on controlling his emotions, but
I don't see that he needs to do so in order to avoid becoming evil.
I see that he needs to do so because his anger results in bad
decisions. That's where the danger lies, IMO, and Voldemort can use
that to his advantage - as he did when he tricked Harry into coming
after Sirius, knowing Harry's feelings for his godfather would
overwhelm him.
