Unfortunately, the prophecy speaks of "die at the hand of the other".
While a loophole might exist surrounding the meaning of "at" in that
phrase, or at some other point, "die" is clear enough - someone's life
has to cease completely (i.e. must not survive) for the prophecy to be
fullfilled. Die does not allow in any way I can think off to simply
loose magical powers. Indeed, Voldemort would *want* to die if that
happened to him, and Harry would regret such thing but wouldn't
consider it dying either.
