I think it really boils down to Harry being a 15 year old boy. I have
said this in response to other posts, but I really think this is the
jewel of the books. JKR has realistically matured him into a teenage
boy. When my brother and I were 15 our parents split and then later
in the year the man who had become a father figure passed away. I
reacted with tears and turning to my mother for support, by brother
was angry all the time. He constantly yelled at my mom, the innocent
in all of it (like Ron and Hermione are) I think that is the way 15
year old boys react to tragedy that they don't understand and to
their lack of control over their environment. I got very frustrated
at Harry's anger in the book, but without it I think perhaps I would
have been thinking of him as too simple of a character. It gives him
a brilliant realism.
