There have been some posts recently on the mirror, and how annoying
it was that Harry forgot it. Some feel that this was just too
ridiculous. I agree that it is TOO ridiculous...i.e. too ridiculous
too get past publishers without some justification. There is an old
theatre adage that goes, 'If there is a gun on the wall in Act I,
it's got to go off by Act III.'. In other words, we will definately
be seeing more of the mirror.
My theory is that it was important for Harry to forget the mirror,
because it was very important for Harry to smash the mirror.
Remember all those hats Hermione was knitting? POINT?????? That it
created a situation where Dobby was the only house elf to clean up
in Gryfinndor Tower. So it will be Dobby who cleans up those shards.
I don't know how they will be significant, but I am SURE they will
be seen again. Otherwise, the whole thing really doesn't make sense,
does it?
Rowling doesn't like things to dangle and she doesn't introduce guns
in Act I without having them go off by Act III (or should I say Book
7?)
