I have read 3 versions of PS and 2 of PoA, CoS and GoF, and my
conclussion is that we cannot be sure that the translators have any
more insights to JKR's thoughts than we do. I myself, having
translated, could do a fair translation of the prophecy into my own
language, but it would still be *my* interpretation of it that would go
down, which might or might not include the ideas JKR wants there.

Yes, because the powers and the mind seem to be separate. No-one (I
think) can argue that Harry is a separate person, not an extension of
Voldemort. Thus, Voldemort's mind can be killed, his influence and vile
thoughts destroyed forever, etc. and Harry could still live, with those
pwoers in him. After all, power is just a characteristic, like height
or strength. If some of Voldemort's strength was passed onto Harry,
that doesn't make Voldemort less mortal.

I'm amazed myself I can keep the unread messages stable at under 15,
but I think that it is mostly because the posting has calmed down.
Hope that helps,
Grey Wolf, who should have dinner but is scared of the number of post
he could find when he came back
