Actually, how I'd characterise it is that Harry wasn't performing 
wandless magic, rather he was activating his wand from a distance.  
I do believe Harry is capable of wandless magic, but IMO being able 
to control one's (or someone else's) wand from a distance is an even 
more significant skill (one that I'd imagined in my own 
internal 'Potterverse').
