Me(Linda):

        I don't think Dudley had any idea what had happened to him
in the alley until he heard the explanation Harry gave to Vernon and
Petunia. When Harry first brought him home, he was babbling and
pretty much incoherrant. The last thing he remembers is Harry
threatening him with his wand. He has no concept of dementors as he
doesn't even know they exist. With the knowlage he had and the
personal history between him and his cousin, asigning the blame to
Harry was probably the only logical explanation that Dudley could
come up with. The problem in this particular instance is not
Dudley's belief that "Harry did it", but Vernon's unwillingness to
hear what happened from the only coherrant witness- Harry.

      Just my two knuts, Linda
