Me (Errol):
>>What I enjoyed most about the DA was the presence of students from
almost every year, and from almost every house. Harry was instructing
12 year olds as well as 17-year-old final year NEWT students, oddball
outsiders and prefects alike. And the initial group of about 28
students expanded with time.<<
Melody agreed:
You know, this is what the sorting hat sang for. But why aren't there
any Slytherin's there? Hogwarts is not complete without Slytherin no
matter how evil *some* of its house members are. Or where there some
and I missed it?<<
Anita:
>>I suspect this has to do with our own dear Draco Malfoy. How could
any Slytherin sneak into the DA without his knowledge? As Prefect,
I'm sure he's gleefully wielding his power in new, annoying ways. It
would be risky to tell a Slytherin, too, for the same reason.<<
Me again (Errol):
I have to agree with Anita. Draco the Prefect would have raised hell
if any Slytherin was found sneaking to the classes. It would have
been too huge a risk for both the Slytherin and for the DA. On the
other hand, I wonder how Harry would have reacted if a Slytherin
*had* shown up in his class. How about the others? Would they have
welcomed him/her? Or would they have ridiculed him (I can so see Fred
and George doing this). Or they could accept the Slytherin only to
show biased treatment if not directly from Harry or Hermione,
most
probably from the others. Harry would have been hard pressed to keep
discipline in his class. Darn, I really wish Rowling had dealt with
this angle. Maybe in the next book
