Hi there! I've totally given up on keeping up with the messages, so I'm
sure someone has discussed Ever So Evil! Lupin and given details as to how
he proves his evilness in Book 5. If so, can someone point me to that
message? If not, would someone like to give it a go? I personally don't
believe this theory (yet), but I find it very interesting and would like to
keep up with it.

Also, has anyone yet drawn out the full tapestry in the Black house (or at
least as much of it as we are given details of)? Is it on the web anywhere?
And here's a question that my extended family has never been able to
settle: A and B are brothers. They each have a son, respectively C and D,
who are first cousins. C and D each have a son also, respectively E and F.
I say that E and F (same generation) are "second cousins". I say that C
and F (different generations) or D and E (different generations) are "first
cousins once removed". My family say vice versa. What is the generally
accepted version, and is it the same in the U.S. and the U.K.?

And lastly, I have read with interest many posts which analyze The Death
Which Must Not Be Named, and say that Sirius' actions are completely
understandable given his Azkaban imprisonment, and then his imprisonment
again in that dungeon of a house --the posts are much better than this
condensed version. (Terry raises a glass of butterbeer in salute to those
brilliant posters.) I have also read those posts which basically say that
Sirius was a jerk and deserved to die. (Terry smiles sweetly and coos in a
simpering voice, "Hem hem...detention for you."...no, no, no, maybe that's
too harsh...Terry moons them instead.)

But I have read all those who truly loved Sirius and are in mourning, and it
is to those people that I address this invitation: Feel free to visit the
U.S.S. SAD DENIAL! (Sirius' Awful Death Didn't End Neatly: It's A Lie!,
acronym courtesy Tabouli, thank you!) In deference to the HPfGU
international community, the U.S.S. will stand for "UnSinkable Ship".
Ship's motto: "No body, no deady," courtesy Heather. My ship (a Cajun
pirogue--able to venture into extremely shallow waters, yet able to
withstand alligator attacks) is dedicated to the premise that Sirius is not
dead. Anyone is welcome to take a tour; this is thought to be the only
pirogue in the world with a lounge and a portrait of Phineas Nigellus ("I
don't believe it,") over the fireplace. If you like what you see, ride the
ship for a while! Even if you feel that Sirius is truly dead, but that we
will somehow hear from him again, you are welcome on board. We have several
crew members already; we have applied for a ship elf from Dobby's Employment
Agency, but are having trouble with the negotiations; we are offering two
knuts a week and all the butterbeer they can carry, but Dobby says "they
isn't wanting to be paid."

BTW, to whoever postulated that perhaps thestrals can go to the world behind
the veil, and maybe with their extraordinary navigation skills, will take
Harry there...I love you! I bow down to you! If you ever want to visit SAD
DENIAL, you will be given the honorary title of Ship's Navigator!

Of course, we hope that this visit will happen sometime during Book VI or
early on in Book VII...I have a horrible vision about Harry vanquishing
Voldemort, looking around, and realizing that the only ones left standing
are he and Snape....so he gets on his thestral and rides off into the
sunset, leaving Snape alone in the ruins of the wizarding world...
