Well, all those things you mention as instances in which Harry is not 
curious require asking questions to find out. He could research Flamel and 
the Chamber without asking anyone, but he can't find out about his parents 
or get other information without asking. And those aren't easy questions to 
ask, even if you haven't been trained from ages 1-11 to not ask questions.
