OOP: Possibly a *really* silly question about the prophecy

I don't think that's accurate at all (I don't mean that in a nasty way).  The prophecy is about Voldemort as much as it is about Harry so he should be able to go in and get it.  I just took it to be that Voldemort thought showing up to get it would be a dead giveaway that he really was back.

As for the larger issue of why they didn't just destroy the prophecy, my take is that they wanted to bait and delay Voldemort.
