I respond:
That would be interesting. However, precedent in all five books shows a trend: Harry always has a previous encounter with the DADA teacher before he sees them in class. He meets Quirrell in the Leaky Cauldron, runs into Lockhart at the bookstore, meets Lupin on the train, hears all about Mad Eye Moody from Mr. Weasley, and has that nasty run in with Umbridge (I loathe that woman with every fiber of my being!) during his trial. None of these characters had been introduced in previous books - instead they were all introduced at the beginning of the book in which they teach. But, you never know...
