Uh, I don't understand your explanation. I must be missing something. 
Why would Harry blaming Snape mean the mirror was of no consequence? If 
Harry had used the mirror, he wouldn't have been caught in Umbridge's 
office and forced to rely on Snape to pass along Harry's coded message. 
Or are you referring to something else Snape did?
