Not sure if this is actually a spoiler or not, but better safe than
sorry....

This question may have been answered long ago, but I've only recently joined
this list, so forgive me if I missed it. In both PoA and OoP, being a
werewolf is described as being incurable. But in CoS, Gilderoy describes
how he uses something called the Homorphus Charm to turn a werewolf back
into a man and "deliver them [the village] from the monthly terror of
werewolf attacks". Granted, Lockhart tends to exagerate, but later on when
Ron and Harry have discovered what a fraud he is, he refers to the ugly old
Armenian warlock who actually saved the village from the werewolf.

So, why doesn't someone do this Homorphus Charm on Lupin so he can stop
being a werewolf already? Granted, it's described as immensely complex, but
surely DD could do it? Or the Healers in St Mungos? The only reason I can
think of is that it would actually kill the person, but it doesn't actually
SAY that it would, just that he let out a moan and turned back into a man.

A small point, but it's bothered me for quite awhile.
