RESPONSE:  Was Neville showing his "respect and admiration" for 
Harry, or was Neville just being a secure person/grownup/aware of 
other's feelings? I think that JKR was just doing a little more 
character development with Neville.  Neville has always been "a good 
kid". He's also made some very difficult decisions for him and JKR 
has treated this character with gentleness.  I was very glad that JKR 
didn't kill off his character and I was thrilled that she "elevated" 
Neville.  Perhaps she had his "dad's old wand" broken so that Neville 
could have one that is his- perhaps she's making him the late bloomer 
who saves the day- or dies a hero (but I'd hate that).
