You're not the only ones, I noticed the shock that went through
Harry and forced Vernon to let go of him as well. I do believe
Harry himself did that - to make Vernon let go of him. I'm not at
all surprised that he did it without using his wand. And he didn't
seemed surprised that he had done it after he did it either.
Throughout OOP, Harry is revealed to be *extremely* gifted when it
comes to DADA (and Vernon trying to throttle him would qualify as a
threat to his person). Not only can he do all these spells, but he
is capable of confidently teaching 27 others to do them as well. At
the age of fifteen, no less. That is beyond remarkable, it is
astonishing. Obviously, the powers gained from Voldemort's assault
on him when Harry was only one are starting to show. And Harry is
learning to use them effectively.
Which brings me to a revelation I've had about the two smokey snakes
that Dumbledore makes appear out of an instrument in his office in
Chapter 22. When Dumbledore looks at the smokey snake, he
says "Naturally, naturally." then "But in essence divided?", after
which the smokey snake splits itself into two snakes. Dumbledore
then looks "grimly satisfied" and turns off the instrument. I
didn't get this at first and then I realized that Dumbledore was
comfirming his belief that Harry saw Mr. Weasley attacked from
inside the snake because Voldemort was possessing the snake at the
moment Harry entered into Voldemort's mind. So, Voldemort's essence
was in two places at once -inside his own body, whereever that was,
and also inside the snake.
Unless, this reference refers to something no yet written in book 6
or book 7?
