It says in the book:
"(...) Uncle Vernon yelped and released Harry as though he had
received an electric shock. Some invisible force seemed to have
surged through his nephew, making him impossible to hold." (p. 10, UK
version)
I took that as Harry doing some involuntary magic... If it had to do
with his mother's protection, why didn't that ever help him when
Dudley came after him? On the other hand, why didn't the ministry
send him a letter if it *was* Harry that did the magic? (Wandless
magic doesn't seem to be illegal *before* someone goes to school, but
seems to become so once the person is there.) This is really a good
point - hadn't really noticed it, not even on my second read.

who wonders why Harry had to go back to the Dursleys now that V-Mort
has Harry's blood in his veins and, acoording to him, the protection
doesn't seem to work anymore anyway...
