My answer would also apply to Remus and Sirius planning to kill 
Peter during that same scene:  there must be many many other ways to 
kill someone besides AK - I can think of about a dozen ways to use 
common charms to kill someone.

Or maybe Harry had no idea how he was going to kill Sirius.  Who 
knows?  Maybe he planned to immobilise him and then choke or stab 
him to death, I don't know.  He was more accustomed to physical 
expressions of violence from his 11 years with 'Dudders' than he was 
with his less-than-two-years using magic.
