If he's not really dead, then why the reports about JKR weeping to
her husband about having really killed him? JKR says she takes these
things very seriously, that she wants to drive home the permanence of
death, so I would find it hard to believe, given the buildup we've
had about the death of Sirius, that she would resurrect him so easily
in Book VI. That's too much playing with readers' emotions. Mind
you, I felt the same way about Lord of the Rings when Gandalf returns
after his fight with the Balrog.

On the other hand, I had to re-read that whole scene to make sure I
didn't miss what happened to Sirius. His death was far less well
written than Diggory's, which chilled me to the bone. I agree with
the listmember who said they found Harry's reaction far more moving
than the actual death.

Red Inkstone.
