I think I've got something!
Ok...in a couple of places in the book it is mentioned that Harry is not
James. In this memory we see a justifiable reason why Snape hates James...we have
also seen evidence that Snape "hates" Harry because of his father (saying how
very like James he is...). Maybe reflecting on this memory will make Snape
also realize that Harry is not James.
And...Maybe it'll make Harry look at Snape differently as well.
