(Apologies if this has been mentioned)

I agree with all of you who feel frustrated by Sirius' death, although JKR suggested it very early (of course I was in denial):
1. the adress: Grimmauld place, 12: 12 is a special number for JKR (see MuggleNet);
2. Sirius' house: oOP p. 59 (Bloom.) "it was as though they had just entered the house of a dying person").

But I can't understand why Dumbledore and other characters - who were always so wise and intelligent - failed this time: it was so easy to prevent the tragedy: it would have been enough to talk to Harry, as Sirius (yes!) wanted to do at the very beginning of the story.

Do you have an impression that Dumbledore didn't seem very sympathetic while talking to Harry about Sirius' death? (I mean, yes, he felt sorry but for Harry's pain not for Sirius' fate.)
