Two thoughts on this idea:  First, if the prophecy was correct and
only that one special child could ultimately defeat him, that child
would be the only one LV would have to kill.  And second, how much
more satisifying to LV to kill the only beloved child of two people
who had successfully defied him -- and leave them alive to mourn.
