Me:
I disagree. I see this comment more along the lines of Hermione's "I
wish I could see Thestrals" and Harry's "Do you really?" Hemione is
just acting on her instinct of knowing and understanding everything
without really thinking about what her comment means. Sirius was
just looking for something to do and didn't really think about what
it meant to Remus. But that is just my take and I can see eiher
interpretation making sense, this one just rings truer to me.
