Now me (Jordan):
First of all, where is it canon that James was in Gryffindor? I know
it's in the movie, and it could be in the book, but I don't remember
it.
Second, there is no way Peter could be in Ravenclaw, he was acting
all stupid about the DADA OWL. So that's out for sure. Remember,
Gryffindorism is about bravery, not necessarily about niceness. If
you want someone nice, go to Hufflepuff. (As a side note, I think it
would be hysterical if someone like Dumbledore ended up having been a
Hufflepuff). Therefore, I don't know if Peter could be in Hufflepuff
either - if the SH could see that Neville was brave enough to be in
Gryffindor despite his shyness, surely it would see Peter's nastiness
and lack of loyalty. Peter is ambitious - he wants to be as close to
whatever power is possible, eg. LV. So, if we're continuing with the
theory that all four were in different houses (which I like but think
is implausible) then Peter would be in Slytherin (but ambitiously
kissing up to the "height of cool" (didn't Lupin call James and
Sirius this?) James and Sirius), Sirius in Hufflepuff (incredibly
loyal to James and his family), Lupin in Ravenclaw (no clue where
this came from), and James in Gryffindor, just for sanity's sake.
Third, about James's purebloodedness - I don't know if this is
coincidence or not (though nothing seems to be w/ JKR), but all of
the pureblood guys (except the Weasleys, who love Muggles) have names
ending in -us. Remus, Severus, Albus, Sirius . . . would that make
James halfblood, or quarterblood, or however many generations not
totally pureblood? Just a thought.
