took during his talk with Harry to ensure Voldemort couldn't
appear inside Harry as he had earlier. All year long,
Dumbledore wouldn't even look Harry in the eye for fear of this.
The one moment he did just before Harry and the Weasleys
took the portkey in his office, Voldemort appeared immediately.
So why not during this rather long discussion near the

Remember that Harry could feel Voldemort's mind when
Voldemort was feeling something strongly. In the same way,
Voldemort was using Harry's emotions to enter his mind. This
was why Harry was supposed to calm himself during practice
with Snape and empty his mind of emotion before resting. Harry
never got the hang of that. However, Harry's "heart," as
Dumbledore calls it, the depth of his ability to love, is so
repellent to Voldemort that if Harry fills his mind with it,
Voldemort cannot possess him.
