Have any of you thought that Snape might of wanted Harry to see his
memory? But not let on to Harry that he wanted him to? Snape left
the room with Draco knowing full well Harry was in there with the
pensive full of his memories. Why didn't Snape lock the pensive
away?....I think he left it out, not because he had no time to pack
it away, but to show Harry, that he is not the person that Sirius
has made him out to be....and Harry's parents weren't always in love
with each other

Yup, I thought about that too, it's that whole reverse pyshcology
thing. Here's another maybe to add to your list about why Snape
wanted Harry to see it: Snape wanted to show Harry that James wasn't
so wonderful as everyone said he was. It seems like a thing that
Snape would do!

Me:
Yes--not to mention the fact that if Harry did help himself to
Snape's thoughts, it would give Snape the perfect excuse not to
teach Harry again.

On the other hand, I sensed a softening of Snape toward Harry. When
Snape catches Harry with his wand pointed at Draco and
announcing "I'm trying to decide which curse to use on Malfoy,"
Snape merely looks surprised. Not a typical Snape response
(although he quickly lapses into vintage Snape-like sneering over
the issue of points). Still 10 points isn't much to deduct for so
blatant an offense.

Personally, I'm starting to like Snape. Now I'm startying to wonder
if there might the the kind of scenario where in Book 6 or 7, it's
Snape who ends up sacrificing his life for Harry, and Harry learning
once and for all that people are complex, that appearances are
deceiving, and that love takes many forms: The essential tools he'll
need to conquer V.

Em, who still can't get that tight pain out of her chest every time
she thinks of Sirius being dead--and who thinks about it alot
