In some cultures you don't eat in your enemy's house, as that would
mean your forfeit your right of revenge.
(Count Monte-Cristo observed this custom, I think).
This would be a very snapish thing to do.
Snape only tolerated Sirius on Dumbledore's direct orders, and
I'm sure the moment "after the war" he would challenge Sirius to duel
pronto.
