I know someone else brought up the illustrations by Mary Grandpre, where she
draws Harry with a lightning bolt scar. But she is not the only person who
has ever drawn Harry. JKR herself has drawn Harry, standing in front of the
mantelpiece in the Dursley household. I know there's another one of him as
a baby being left on Privet Drive. Both of those should have her
interpretation of the scar. I don't have the link, but I'm sure someone can
supply it. I would think that would help shed light on the exact shape of
the scar in JK's mind.
