Hello, new to this list. Will start off by a list of
statements/questions/pondering about OoP. I'm sure
I'll come up with more as time goes by... and I
re-read it.
* Loved the cookie scene. Laughed out loud at that
one, I did. Just had to comment on it.
* The otherwise normal frustration I've been noticing
in posts; why Harry didn't open Sirius "gift", he
clearly said to use it when he needed to talk. Why
Harry all of a sudden saw the horses. etc.
* Professor Dumbeldore called him Tom.
* When will the two boys learn to listen to Hermione?
She is the clever one. And so far she's the one who's
been right about everything. Why not rationalize that
hey, maybe she's right again.
* This amused at the turn out of the whole Harry/Cho
thing. Who'd have thought she'd be a cry baby? *evil
smile*
* Hermione did, as always, have the answer to
everything about everyone. Would have wanted to read
about her learning all the facts too, not just that
she knew them. Anyone else for JKR writing at least
one book telling the story of everyone else for each
"Harry told" book?
* Luna was a surprise... a new character from school
that non had noticed until now when she, quite fully,
emerged herself into their lives.
* The Black Veil ought to have some importance in the
upcoming books. Why else bother to mention it?
* If only the person for whom the prophesy was about
could go and get it, why didn't Harry just put it back
on the shelf? What spell was it that protected it? If
it were a spell about removing it from the shelf, then
as I said, why didn't Harry just put it back? However,
am I the only one who think a spell to prevent someone
from taking it out of the room should have been
present?
* As a great fan of Professor McGonagall I just have
to thrive in her irritation. And be a bit disappointed
about how "easy" she was "disposed of". Maybe it's my
own fantasies lurking, but hasn't she been described
as at least a somewhat great witch?
* Professor Umbridge was a, fun, alternative villain
to Lord Voldemort.
* Angry at Harry for not going to Professor Dumbeldore
about Professor Umbridge's detention lines. He could
have at least told Professor McGonagall. Okay so maybe
non om them could have done something, still, he
should have told them.
* And when Harry was so frustrated that he didn't
understand Professor Dumbledore's dis-attachment, he
could have easily fitted in a quick visit to his
office any day of the week. A simple matter of asking.
* Absolutely thrilled about Ginny's character
development. Even if we didn't get to see much of her,
when we did she didn't blush and ran away. She
actually had something to say.
* Do not empathy with Harry's renewal hate for
Professor Snape.
* Do understand Harry's hatred and irritation
throughout the book.. but did it really have to be so
consuming? It took up more pages then the plot.
* For a world who have a fail proof (does anyone know
if it's resistible?) way to know if anyone is telling
the truth; Vertiserum. They sure are reluctant to use
it. Or are they (JKR?) forgetting it? If there is a
trial where the outcome could be the accused being
sent to Askaban, should they even hesitate to use it?
It just seem so easy to know if Harry had seen
Dementores or not.
Just thought of something; it must be able to block
it, right? Otherwise Lord Voldemort could easily give
it to all his followers and ask whether they're spies
or not.
Regards,
Nemesiz
