Now that I'm finally done with the book, I have a couple of comments. I apologize if you've talked about this already. I've got all the mail from this loop, just since 6/22, in a folder, and it's closing in on 4000 messages and keeps growing every time more mail is downloaded. I just can't keep up.

Before the book was published, we discussed why wizard housewives (housewitches?) still have so much work to do, even with magic. I guess part of the answer is, the magical pests that seem to inhabit their houses cause more work than we Muggle housewives have to deal with. I really liked the "scourgify" spell!

I loved the way Neville's character developed in this book. I very much expected that, because of what Harry learned about his parents. I think his part in the prophecy is also interesting.

We still didn't learn what James and Lily did for a living, and now we have more questions about how they got together, and what were the three incidents mentioned in the prophecy.

I'm still quite confused about the O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. grading system -- they listed a bunch of letters for grades, but then in previous years we've heard so and so got 3 O.W.L.s -- how does that translate from the letter grades? Does it mean he passed 3 of the individual tests? But it seems to matter which tests, depending on the career choice. If Harry fails Divination, but passes Potions, that's good, because he needs Potions more for an Auror's position, but it seems the letter grade also matters. Also, I'm wondering -- if Harry does indeed defeat and kill Voldemort in the end, will there still be a need for Aurors?
