So... okay, I keep feeling like I have to apologize because this is
going to sound dumb. I'm not saying I firmly believe this is what's
going to happen, do don't be hostile when you shoot it down. I think
it's a possibility Harry will have to learn to forgive Voldemort.
When Voldemort is directly exposed to that feeling and cannot escape
it... I don't know. But I know that in real life *no* one is purely
evil.
<snip really good CS Lewis paraphrase>
So, while I don't think that Voldemort can ever be redeemed at this
point, I also don't think that he can just face that kind of empathy
directed at him and flowing directly into him (via the scar
connection). I think it would destroy him.

Now me (Laura):
This reminds me of A Wrinkle in Time. Meg travels to this building
where "IT" is located to save her brother, Charles Wallace. "IT" is
this oversized brain that is responsible for the complete control of
everyone on the planet they are on. For one creepy example, when the
group arrives on this planet, they walk down a street where children
are outside, playing- but exactly in rythym. Each child bouncing a
ball bounces it exactly in sync with the others, and each child
jumping rope jumps with exactly the same speed. Now IT has taken
over her brother, possessed him, if you will, and she must save him.
And the story says something like (paraphrase) She was sure that if
she could love IT, it would shrivel up and die right there. It was
perhaps not to much to ask of her, but she could not do it.

I completely understand your mush theory <grin> and I think there
might be something to it. I think it would be very hard to watch
Harry pull out his wand and AK someone, I really don't think the
story will go that way. It's also rather lame to watch the same
thing happen again that happened the first time around- ie, LV's
spell rebounding. So I think we're going to see something different
in LV's death (if he even dies) and I think you might be on to
something.

I think it has been confirmed by many HPFGU posters that Sirius is a
sexy, attractive character. Confirmed also by Harry himself when he
recalls Sirius' younger days as being handsome.

Laura says: OOP, US Hardcover, p. 642

He [Sirius] was very good-looking; his dark hair fell into his eyes
with a casual sort of elegance neither James's nor Harry's could ever
have achieved, and a girl sitting behind him was eyeing him
hopefully, though he didn't seem to have noticed.

Florence??? <evil grin>

Yes, that's right folks, you have so corrupted me that Florence was
the first thing that came to mind when I read that line. Start
theorizing. =)
