Okay, I was going to try to argue that she is not an air-head but... I
can't.  She is.  But she's more than that too.  She really couldn't
care less about what other people think.  If she finds something funny
she will laugh as loud and as long as she wants.  If she thinks
someone is telling the truth (Harry and his end of GoF story), she
will come right out in front of everyone and say so.  If she likes you
(Harry, Ron and/or Neville take your pick), she will wear a humongous
symbol of your house on her head at your next Quidditch match.

She also kicked DE butt at the end big battle.  She was the last
fighting member with Harry and Neville before she was blasted.  I also
feel her brief moment with Harry under the mistletoe in the DA class
may be foreshadowing.  And her name "love good."  And remember her
tender moment with Harry at the bulletin board.  She was the only
member who made Harry feel a little better.  And she was the only one
with Harry at the veil and heard voices too.  And one thing I haven't
mentioned before, Jo entitled an entire chapter "Luna Lovegood." 
That's a big honor for someone who is just going to be Neville or
Ron's girlfriend.
Nope, she is the one for Harry.
