FWIW, I had *no clue* that someone was supposed to die before I 
finished the book and, since my DH won't read them, I cast about for 
someone else to talk to who had finished the book and found this 
wonderful site.

I didn't find OOP to be as compelling a read as the other books, esp. 
GOF, which I think is Greg's point.  I didn't like the "shoot-em-up" 
scene particularly, although I did like that it wasn't all HP saving 
the day as usual.  In fact, what I *did* like about the shoot-em-up 
was that Adult Wizards actually participated.

However, my lack of love for the ending probably has more to do with 
my personal preference for the humor/relationship/niftyHogwartsschool 
over the violence.  Given that a Major War is about to start, the 
violent ending, yes, even Sirius' death, was probably realistic. 
(Okay, realistic for this story) :)

I did find myself not reading the scene as carefully and probably 
missed major important things....hence, the current re-read!
