Me:
Harry was told by Riddle himself in the Chamber of Secrets that he
was Lord Voldemort, and that only a select few knew. Afterwards,
Dumbledore commented that very few people recognized Voldemort as the
clever, handsome, Head Boy who had once been at Hogwarts due to his
many transformations that had taken place over number of years as he
traveled and consorted with the "worst of our kind."
Voldemort made such a point of hating all but purebloods, plus he was
so powerful, that I imagine his followers would have a hard time
believing Harry. AFter all, they were just as prejudiced as he was.
On another note, does anyone now doubt that Lily Evans was a witch
born to muggles after Snape called her a mudblood in his memory in
the pensieve?
